Matching Paint for the Jeep
« on: February 10, 2009, 09:28:09 AM »
Hey, guys, where would I find the paint code for my Jeep, and where could I buy matchingpaint for some touch ups?  My paint is peeling in some places (my Jeep has some cheap paint job that is now peeling; God only knows what the PO did to it!), and I want to touch it up to avoid rust (I really dont care if it does not look perfect; good enough is fine as long as it does not stick out like a sore thumb and prevents rusting).

You want to look for the ID tag on the firewall behind the brake boster.  IIRC, it's a 4 digit code.  Usually 2 letters followed by two numbers.

Also, keep in mind that unless they are able to take samples and of the Jeeps actual paint, it probably won't match 100%.  Most automotive paint shops can mix you a small batch and then get it to the prefect tone.

This link should give you everything you need as far as where the paint code is located.
http://www.automotivetouchup.com/paint-codes/jeep.htm

You can also buy your paint from them.

So what would be my paint code?  PG5?  There is not PNT code prior to any other code, so it is not like the site...

That's what I thought; just wanted to confirm before I ordered, as neither NAPA nor Advancd Autoparts has that color in stock...  Thanks!
