Winch weight
« on: April 18, 2012, 06:09:59 PM »
Hey all! It's been a while since I've posted. I've been busy with work and school and a new baby, anyways, i was looking at winches the other day and was concerned with the weight. Is it a significant amount that it will bog the engine down? Also, would a spacer or lift kit be beneficial to level the font end.

Sit on the Bumper How much does it go down.  Not much right, well you weigh a lot more than that winch.

Typically, you're looking at around 100lbs.  That's 60-70 for the winch and another 25 for the winch plate.

If you have a coil, they tend to sag a bit more then leafs.

comparable to when you have a skinny chick riding with you, so might want to drive solo once you install the winch

Hear that synthetic cable will save you some weight over metal cable, but we're not talking much.  if the winch was on an Indy car, maybe the weight savings would mean a lot  :fitz:
