Sealing up a soft top a little better
« on: April 19, 2012, 10:34:56 PM »
I got a later model soft top from a 2004, and put it on the 1997... I have pretty pronounced wind noise coming from the seal that goes on top of the windshield. I was thinking ordering a new one would help, but I can't seem to find them. Struck out on Quadratec and Rock Auto.

Its not leaking, but it howls pretty bad and I am shooting for a long road trip soon.

Tried the rocking system thing, didn't work. Afore said seal now does leak. It's the rubber pad on top of the windshield.

Go to a hardware store and see if they have anything that will work.  I've been using universal weatherstripping to seal up my Jeep for a while now.  It's a lot cheaper, then to buy an OE replacement of any kind.

Well look for something that matches.  I use Camper Cab seal for my hard top.  I also use D weatherstrip for my door as well as some other stuff.  I'd rather not spend $45 each for a door seal when I can fix both for $10.
