Topic: Sea Foam

Has anyone ran Sea Foam in there gas tank? My Jeep sits for months and months and I was wondering if a fuel additive should be used. Sea Foam says it stabilizes fuel for a long time.
Any draw backs to using these types of products?

Why not add stabilant to the tank? It's specifically made to keep gasoline from detoriating.

you can always empty the tank as much as possible, you'd still be left with 1/2 a gallon or maybe more, just add another 2 gallons when you're ready to drive around. Unless it sits for a year or more you're fine. Mine sat for 2 years but i kept taking fuel out via the pump at the rail and adding fresh and had no issues (i replaced the fuel filter prior to restart).

i like to use seafoam in the tank about ounce a year. with throttel body injection it does a good job of cleaning the tb and manifold (although it wont help with mpfi but it does clean otehr components and i feel do good)

I thought it only did that when you add it to the TB.?

Sometimes it sits for about 5-6 months. I start it every couple months and run it a bit.

I normally don't let it sit with a full tank. Normally it's less than 1/4. Is it better to store with a full tank or empty?

empty and add fresh gas before you start it, best if you run the pump for a minute or so to flush the rails.

with a metal tank its better to have it full so condensation on the inside doesn't rust the tank. for plastic tank idk but would think you would want to keep it low

With today's ethanol "enriched" gas, you definitely need to add a stabilizer such as Seafoam for extended storage to help minimize the gas separating and breaking down.  Also, the fuller you keep the tank, the better off you will be.  Ethanol will absorb moisture from the air and you will have water in your tank.  With a full tank you have less air and therefore less moisture to be absorbed.  I religiously use Seafoam in my bike because it sits a lot more than my Jeep.  About twice a year I run some through the Jeep to keep things clean.
