so let me get this straight
you need
main truss $1500
trans adapter $1300
intercooler $1400 (although you could go with an air-to-air intercooler for less money but would be a custom job)
wiring harness $1600

TOTAL $5800

+ the cost of the 1.9L motor + '05 VW Passat starter + labor (in case some things are done at a shop)

darn, that's way too steep.

I'm doing it. Im getting off this ship in July and that is my ultimate goal. Im getting the engine used from a junk yard. should be safe as long as it is 70k miles and below. I talked to them for a bit about this. You don't actually need the wiring harness if you happen to know wiring and are good at it as you can wire it up yourself. I am going to buy theirs. I can pull the 4banger motor out myself (learned how to do that 1 week after i bought it) and weld new mounts and swap in the 1.9. I may need help on the wiring, if that is the case I'll have it towed to a nearby shop and have them do that.

Would be a good time to swap in a NSG-370 but I suspect you have to run the 2.4L version instead of using the AX-5.
