I picked up another 4-banger. Its a 94 2.5l with 5-sp. I picked it up hoping for a flip for a few extras $$. Haven't had good luck selling it...probably due to no back seat and the truck type top. (most questions I get from listing).

Its a basic YJ with tilt and delayed wipers (even my TJ doesn't have that!). 124k miles, 5-sp. Little surface rust showing near flare w/no rust holes in floor, sheetmetal, and frame. Has 1" extended shackles (w/ bent leaf front passenger). Truck type cab top. Was green before, and now flat black. I've removed the front/rear track bars, front sway bar, and added newer gas shocks and 1.5" hitch frame. Plan for now is to replace the leaking D35 with 8.8 (4.10s) SUA as I can resell it later. Flushed the cooling system and noticed the PO routed the serpentine wrong (see in pic). He routed it up/over the idler pulley. He also added newer water pump, thermo, fan clutch and large fan. Fan is large enough, he trimmed the shroud to make room. It adds a blower effect sound.
For more plans, looking at 37s/39s, 5.3l/auto, leafed (SOA) front/rear and exterior tubes. I've already started the collection - Toyota FJ62 front (4.10, 9.5" ring, ~1.5" shafts, fual piston calipers, large vented rotors, lockouts), 1.5" lift fronts reverse eyes leafs, 8.8 (3.73, detroit, discs).

Had to pull up a Photo of mine to see the belt.  So the fan on yours and water put are they turning the right Direction.

Everything will turn the right way but it might have too little engagement on the crank pulley.

My '95 YJ actually has TJ routing with an extra idler/tensioner on the driver's side.
'95 YJ, 33 x 12.5 mud tires, RE 4.5 ED lift, Atlas 4 speed, rear D44, ARBs front and rear, 4.56 gears, 8000# winch

Even if he had TJ routing it's all wrong.  That's a YJ setup with a single pulley on there.

I agree it's wrong but things are still spinning the right way.

doesnt seem to be the correct belt, you can get a glimpse of the inside in that pic and looks like its a timing belt and not a serpentine

EDIT: also, there's very little contact on the alt pulley, probably squeels when you get high charging amps.

Another Question why did they go with a larger Fan.  When most of us are getting rid of theirs for an Electric one.

The PO had the serpentine over top of the idler with the 'teeth' of the belt. The idler has no grooves. At start up, it would squeal. That's what happens when you buy Jeeps at auctions sight unseen.

I ran the belt under the idler as setup on the lower pic in Jeffy's response. The water pump still spins the same direction. I don't have the extra pulley like that on my TJ (Jeffy's upper pic). Its all good now.

As an impression, haven't driven or wheeled a manual trans for some time. I went wheeling at Kansas Rocks Recreation  Park for their Creepy Crawl event.
I've been wheeling an 2.5l/auto TJ for 7 yrs. It has small lift, 35s, 4.88, and lunchboxes. This being a completely stock YJ on 26's and leafed. Sticks are quite different than that of an auto when wheeling. I noticed I have little better crawl control in 1st going down obstacles as long as I didn't stall the engine with the brakes. Climbing in 2nd provided wheel hop in certain instances. Climbing in 1st was lesser wheel spin. Those extended shackles on stock springs were a PITA compared to the approach angle I have with the TJ. I referred to them as frontal terrain feelers. I actually had to do a sideways approach to climb gullies. Others laughed at me trying to figure what I was doing. Double footing an auto to minimize the wheel hop and to keep the tc engaged doesn't quite work with the clutch pedal. Then high centering in ceratin muddy areas, I had to wait for the rpm to settle to get it into reverse to back out. I was only pulled forward once when it was obvious no tires were hitting terre firma, just spraying water.

With 26s and those shackles it was probably worse than stock, lol.  Must have been fun.

Some short pics.

If you look closely, my front hooks are drop brackets for a Cepek 6" lift to a 92 Bronco I once had. I didn't have anything long enough to fit into both bolts. The rear has a tow hitch frame attached to the rear crossmember.

And the Trail Tested badge.....I think I ended up with a broken trans mount as off-camber climbs sounded like the fan hitting the shroud. Add the shifters have some movement under power....
