ok, they must be making money via some Chrysler marketing funding 'cause i don't see anyone in their right mind spending that much on this, just doesn't add up (my opinion anyway).

Well, it's a low volume vehicle so that can account for 1/4-1/3 the price to cover R&D.  I'm gonna guess they will be in the low hundreds if even that.  The warranty is then 3 years / 36,000 Miles from AEV.  The suspension is an AEV 4.5-inch DualSport RS, Bilstein remote-reservoir shocks.  Axles are usually Dynatrac ProRock 44/GKN electric locker in the front and Dynatrac ProRock 60/Eaton electric locker in the rear.  Doesn't look like that one has the Pro Rocks though.  (Probably Dynatrac Trail Series)  In any case seeing as a loaded Rubicon is getting close to $50,000, getting to $80,000 for a loaded Brute and then $25,000 for the Hemi.  Then upgrade the ProRock 44 to a ProRock 60...  You also have to consider labor ain't free either.  Crazy to be spending that much on a Jeep though.  Actually I think spending $40K on a factory Jeep is a bit much, too.

Expensive, but it is just a drop in the bucket for some people.

ok but that's not the average person buying an SUV, so they sell how many/year - i still don't see it being a long term business on it's own, to busy to look them up but they must make money out of something else (maybe military contract, somehow that rings a bell).

They probably recuperate the initial investment with just a few vehicles, and after that it is profitable.  AEV has an extensive line of accessories, all fairly expensive.  I think they also do some turnkey engine swaps.

The Double Cab Brute isn't even in production set.  Thought, AEV does well in the accessory business.  They make DOT Legal Beadlocks as well as regular wheels, bumpers, hoods, skid plates and a lot more.  The Highline kit was pretty cool, too.  They bought out Nth Degree Suspensions a few years ago.  Their claim to fame is conversions though.  They did some extended YJ's way back but then got recognized for their stretched TJ's.  This was well before the Unlimited's.  Their original Brute was fairly popular and was available as a kit.  They are also known for Hemi swaps.  They were one of the first to do them.  Their work looks OEM as the owner sets a high bar.  This is why Mopar Skunkworks works with them.  They also sell full on modified Jeeps, ready to go.  You can buy a JK, JK Unlimited.  They used to do Grand Cherokee's as well as XJ's.

Here in Norway, 80 000$ is what a 4 door JKU Sahara costs, stock. To add seats in the rear, you would need to add about 60K...

There is one company in Norway allowed to customize these Jeeps, and for an AEV build, with 38", you would look at about 115-120K, again for 2-seat version...

So, if I could get one of these for 100K, I'd buy it :)

Oh, and sorry for reviving this thread, just had to get this off my mind ;)

Sounds like Jeep is doing to Norway what Land Rover did to the US market by selling the Defenders at +$70,000

Well, it isn't Jeep that causes the problem, it's the government... They charge fees for almost everything. Amount of horsepower, weight of the car, cO2/NOX fees, all of these things makes having a car in Norway quite expensive. And forget about customizing it, that's plain out illegal :P

Move to Iceland. Just as cold as Norway, TONS of modified trucks. Problem solved :)

I know, and I have actually thought about it :P But for now, I think I stick to Norway...

Going on vacation to Iceland in a week, and going offroading there. Taking my Jeep over next summer. Totally fallen in love with the country :P

I rented a Defender 110 on 38" tires, diesel of course for a full day when I went to Iceland. Had an awesome time! I too have fallen in love with the country, their cars...and their women ;)
