obviously his approach angle was TERRIBLE, but i also don't get the feeling he was in the lowest possible gear, looks like he launched at his departure. If it ever feels bad, don't do it...if your friends persist, put it in 1st and 4lo and creep forward-SLOW.

Looks like he had aftermarket flares on there, metalcloak perhaps?
There is a vid of his sister making it down, she owns that jeep parked behind where his comes to rest.

My question would be WHY he tried it using a WORSE approach AFTER his sister almost rolled over when taking it head on?  That was a really bad way of doing it...  Typically, when I go down grades, I suffer from the OPOSITE reaction (going too slow to the point the tires loose traction and it skids a bit, which you ussually have to remedy with a bit of throttle to keep your line).  They both went off full speed (looked like 4H).

Maybe they didn't even get their foot off the clutch pedal (if they have one)!

Did that about 26 years ago in my ex GPW with no roll bar.  Flew off a log dropoff but managed to avoid all the trees and get to the bottom ok.  It was a wild ride and I never made that mistake again!

Well, you can see from the second video, the road actually comes in from the left when looking up the hill.  Looks like the guy took too high of a line and dropped the passenger tire into the grooves which started the roll.  The 'sister' was at least lined up in the grooves.

That much is clear, but WHY did he NOT back up to line himself with the drop off?  Why try to go into the drop while in the middle of a turn?

i don't think that's a road, i think there's one right off the other side (second vid to the right), so i think they came around rather than uphill and then downhill on the other side (maybe they couldn't make it up on the other side).

gives me flashbacks to rolling my 4wheeler. same type of situation with a hill that starts with a turn at the top. except my left front tire hit a rock making it to sideways and rolling like the jeep except it luckily bounced over me and not on me... would have helped if they eased into it...

What I mean is the trail isn't straight up and down.  Looks like it is offset so you have to crest then turn left then down.
