Please respect Rausch Creek
« on: January 22, 2013, 01:42:17 PM »
Not saying anyone on here would do such a thing, but read this post on a forum I'm part of, this was forwarded from the RC page. Just a heads up to members who may head out to RC, they seem to be adopting a "if you see something, say something" policy. These idiots who are causing the problems are the same idiots who ruin local trails and cause them to be shut down. I've got a really awesome local trail I wheel on as many others have for decades. The owner has never fenced it off and just asks that the wheeling pause during the hunting season. Sounds reasonable, right? Well, every single time I go back, there's yet another pile of trash or empty budlite cans (why is it always BL???) left on the ground. I won't be surprised if I head back one day and find it gated off.
Anyway, read it and pass it along to whatever other forums you guys may be part of.

Once again I am asking for help from our members and visitors of RCORP. Over the past few months a few things have happened that need to be talked about. I am going to be NON specific on some matters because I don?t want to call people out on a public forum. These people have been talked to one on one (at least the ones we know of).

TRASH: Does this really need to be said??? Lunch, broken parts, pieces of bumpers, etc? Bring them back to the office and put them in the dumpster or take them home for your wall (bumpers that is not left over lunch). Please don?t thing tossing something in the weeds is getting away with something.

Bush Whacking: Sometimes it is necessary because of a breakage or rollover possibility to knock some small trees over. But to save 3 minutes of your time ?dead pulling? a rig back to the office is not the right time to make a new trail in the weeds and brush. When leaving the NE property PLEASE leave VIA the main roads not across the grass onto Molleystown rd. This is not only dangerous but makes new tracks in the grass that others may follow.

Gates: This one I am PISSED on. Someone was too lazy or just a jerk and took a chain or strap on Saturday and pulled out the post to the gate on Trial D. Not only does this allow people onto the property that shouldn?t be there but causes damage which now costs us money to fix.

These are just three topics that are standing out. Guys what does it take to understand PLEASE respect our off road park. This is the start to our 10th year and I was hoping by now these posts I put up with stupid crap that people STILL pull would not be necessary but well here I am.

Please do me two favors. Pass this message along to your clubs and message boards for your wheeling buddies who might not surf our sight often. 2nd favor is call or report things you know are NOT right when you see them. Am I asking you to be a snitch? YES!! We are not talking about cheating on your chem test in 12th grade we are talking about a place where bringing your family and friends is ?fun? thing to do. 2% hurt the other 98% so a phone call to the office will do wonders.
Thanks for the air time on these matters!!!"

Pretty good ethics for any trail - or tread lightly guidelines. Sad that some people are hell bent on destroying or trashing up trails/property. People started running a muck on a few of our local trails and the forest service put in HD fences/bull dozed un-designated paths/and pot-holed flattend out clearings a while back.

That sucks that a few people have no respect for anyone or anything.  Many times it ruins things for everyone else.  You can sometimes call them out if you see it, and many times they will respond, but there is always a few that become even more ignorant.  I hope to make it up there on day, hopefully it will be there

Like I said, these are the folks who are repsonsible for land/trail shutdowns everywhere. Unfortunately, the Northeast isn't overly offroad friendly like the South or other regions in the US, so much of the wheeling that happens is clandestine, essentially illegal and without structure or instruction. You get kids who are in the mindset to trespass and then it evolves from there with trash being left about, illegal activities on the land, arson etc. These same idiots eventually make it to parks like Rausch Creek and carry with them the same manners they have exhibited and honed back home and the result is what is mentioned in the text from Rausch Creek. I wish my state were more off road friendly, that way folks could truly get together and enjoy it in a normal fashion rather than enjoy it in a way that pretty much starts on the illegal level. There are many trails in the Northeast, and for the most part, land owners don't care about folks wheeling until the trash starts accumulating and other activities start occuring, then they put up fences and shut them down. The local trail my friends and I use is FANTASTIC, plenty of fun for all level rigs; rocks, mud, hill climbs etc. The owners don't care about the wheeling and have just asked us not to wheel there during hunting season...but more and more jerks have found it and have left trash behind and abused it. I wouldn't be surprised if I go to wheel there one day and find it blocked off.

there are idiots everywhere - mostly this is caused by pure stupidity or lack of education, they go on their own without someone to keep them "on track" (pun intended). It sucks as the same thing happens with all the trails, they go off into creeks and ponds and destroy wildlife habitat and it eventually results in shutting down the area for 4wd or motorized access altoghether.
