What's the difference between a YJ and a TJ soft top?

windshield angle (YJ is more towards vertical) and doors (rear part of the door upper frame is angled towards the back, YJ is straight up), so it won't fit, overall dimensions are different. TJ softop is lot easier to pull down and put back up though so if you get anywhere with this i'd like to hear about it.

JP Magazine did this a while back, not sure which issue but it might be on their web page.

A lot of stuff needed to be done to get a TJ top on a YJ.  It's not bolt-on by any means.  I don't think its worth it.  You need a TJ cage to start off with or modify your YJ cage to mount the door surrounds onto.

The top hangs off the cage instead of a frame like on the YJ.  The latches are totally different for the windshield frame as well as the tub.  You can get it to work but it requires some chopping.  Once on you cannot use OEM soft top upper doors.  You have to either go with Full doors to get aftermarket supertop uppers.

looks like he got the TJ doors on ok but the windshield frame leaning back doesn't look right, just a matter of taste though, i wouldn't do it

Thanks for the link Jeffy. Looks like it can be done. Not something I'm willing to attempt. I don't care for the YJ half door windows. Maybe I'll just look for some sliders.

Sliders suck.  I hate them.  They're not big enough to stick your arm out nor get fast food passed to you.  They also are extremely easy to unlock from the outside.  Water and dirt collects in the rails which jam up the windows as you drag it back and forth.

I've heard that about sliders. I'm a smoker and work 2nd shift, the ride home can be chilly and I like to have a window cracked open. The zip up windows on the YJ suck and kinda want to keep my full doors but love my half doors.
Wish I could find a white top, maybe I'll take the upper skins to someone that can do some mods and put in a wing window.

You can make a clip that can hold the soft top window open just a little.  String around the horizontal bracing then a alligator clip that pulls the window open a litte.  They used to actually sell something that would do this years ago.

Getting a TJ top will usually cost something, unless you where just given one.  One solution could be to get a Bestop with their bow design, which folds down.

I used a clip to hold the window partly open. Like you said.

I want to make a wing window in a soft top window.
