DJ Front Axle ??
« on: June 03, 2014, 11:19:20 PM »
Gentlemen. Does anyone know if the front axles on DJs  (2, 3, or 5) were used on any other type of vehicle?? Jeep or otherwise?
Thanks.  Hunter
PS  DJs were the two-wheel drive version

I don't believe there was a DJ-2.  It started with the DJ-3A then the DJ-5, DJ-5A, DJ-5M, DJ-6..  The Surrey Gala was a fancy DJ-3A.  Axles like today are generally vehicle specific.

i hear that you cold bolt in the 4wd axles to the dj vehicles without having to modify the suspension from a guy we sold a trashed flat fender too. haven't seen a dj in person to be able to confirm but would be an option although it would be heavy...

Well, the dummy axle was just that.  It was a tube with knuckles and spindles on the ends.  So, really the only difference was the lack of a transfer case and a live front axle.  The MJ's, XJ's, ZJ's and JK's all had this 'feature' when you ordered a 2WD.  Keeps cost down, so they don't have to redesign the whole front end.
