FLOODED EFI ???????????????????????????
« on: April 24, 2006, 02:08:14 AM »
I have a '91 2.5l wrangler, 5sp, 31" mt's, 4.56 gearing, trutrac's front and rear, Borla headers and cat back exhaust, free flow cat, 4.0 tb, tb spacer, stage II cam, K&N filter MSD blaster ss coil,Champion plugs and jacobs 8mm wires. This sounds really weird but whenever I'm climbing a steep hill or loading the engine down and it stalls, it takes over 30 seconds to restart the motor and when it starts, it sputters as the rpm increases just like flooded carb would? I also notice bogging of the engine when accelerating moderately, until the rpm's picks up then the engine begins to pull. I was wondering if this is an excessive fuel problem, then would a map adjuster help, or am I way off on this one. Another thing, I switched my 4 month  old Bosch 4 electrode plugs for a set of plain Champions and that helped the performance a bit. Thanks.

I don't know the answer to this, but I didn't want this post to fall too far down the list.   Especially being your first post ;)

Hopefully someone here could help you on this one...

Have you done anything to the intake?

The engine's don't like being stalled.  You have to shut it down then wait a couple seconds then try starting.  If you try starting right after it stalls, it won't start up.  If you get it close to stalling then the engine has to rev to save itself, the PCM will keep the RPM's up for a while.

Also, what does your spark plugs look like?  Also, the gap they're set at?  Jeepd don't like fancy multi-prong plugs.

You may also want to see if there are any error codes saved into the PCM.

I have a K&N filter in the stock housing without the restrictor removed and the front cut open, along with a 4.0 tb and tb spacer. I also reamed the opening of the intake to match the bore of the 4.0 tb. My spark plugs was a Bosch multi prong type but I now have regular Champion plugs set at the stock gap. The use of the Champion plugs made a little difference though. As for the plug it looks normal in color. I also checked the engine codes and every thing indicates normal. Thanks for the input guys, I'll keep on working on it, along with installing my long awaited 4.88's for a little more grunt.
