Well the restored Land Cruiser shop in CA has them for sale around $30-40K.  I suspect it's close to that.

yeah...if you read through it it compares the prices of NEW suvs at around 30-40g and how they don't compare to Jeep's old iron...so I'm assuming you're in the ballpark with that figure.

It's really not all that bad if you read through what all they do I guess. They're not like the Wagonmaster that just replaces the obvious defects, they are a frame up restorer which would be nice on the Grand. Heck the things were 30k new 15years ago! :P

Get a mid 80s one and you're show circuit ready right outta the box.

Here's the company I was talking about. http://www.tlc4x4.com/2000/home.htm

I wouldn't mind an FJ60.

I'll take a blue FJ40 ... or green/white FJ55....wouldn't turn down a 60 tho.

I like the looks of the 80s for newer iron. There are a couple of nice ones running around here.

I wouldn't take the newer body style 80(or whatever they're called) on a bet. I just don't care for em.

Still rather have a Woody tho.  8)

FJ40's are a bit small inside.  FJ60's aren't as rare but just as ruged.  The FJ80's aren't too bad either but a lot wider.  I've riden in a newer one (FJ 100) and it was nice inside.  Althought not as nice as rugid as the earlier models.  Actually if I could choose any of them, I'd probably go for a FJ70 Series.  They never made it to the US but think of it as a modern FJ45 wagon.  They were sold everywhere but the US, along side the FJ80.

As for those Grand Wagoneer's, you could get a high mileage one that's in otherwise good shape and rebuild it for $5K and have a nice Jeep.  Some people seem to be jsut dumping them for whatever they can get.  I've seen highmileage ones with nothing else wrong for $3000-5000.

Oh speaking of TLC's, here's a cool site.  http://www.toyota.com/vehicles/minisite/landcruiser/minisite/index.html

Yep actually there are some real nice ones on Ebay right now for pretty good prices.  It's the 10MPG that might be hard to swallow right now! :)

I'd go for something like a Early Bronco since the engine can be swapped for a modern 5.0L easily.  Wagoneer's are just huge.  Great trucks but heavy.
