Thats right, I couldn't take one more summer in my 95 YJ.  I live about 100 miles from Vegas and were already in the triple digits.  So I broke down and installed A/C, and it's great.  I followed a review at http://www.myjeeprocks.com/features/index.php/YJ_Aftermarket_AC_Install.  Took me about 8 hours, but the kit went in fairly smooth.

There is a noticeable loss in power when the compressor is on, like driving with the e-brake on.  But if I wanted power I wouldn't be driving a 4banger.  The output is very cold, and the vent is aimed right at the groin.  Perfect!

I was getting around 19-20 mpg before.  In a couple days I'll find out what she's getting now, and let you guys know.

i just ripped the a/c out of my yj, i wouldve sold it to you   HaHa o well maybe next time.  Post to see if anyone has a system laying around next time.

I want to eventually put A/C in my Jeep.  I need to figure out a way to either use a OEM A/C compressor though.  I'm not too partial on the vent locations though.  I need it to work with my OBA.

I didn't even think about looking for a used one.  At least this way the A/C will probably out like the jeep.

Things would be a little tight with a York in there, but I managed to shoe horn my electric compressor and air tank back into the engine bay.

With the hard top back on I can actually have a conversation or listen to the radio while driving, and no more heat stroke.  Hooray!

From what I understand you can use a York in there if you get the right brackets.  Although if you got the AZ supplied generic compressor you'll have to do some fabricating.  The difference is the OEM compressor uses long bolts and will bolt to the A/C/Alternator bracket.  The York bracket sits on the compressor.  The AZ generic Sanden has horzontal tabs which bolt to a bracket that bolts to the OEM bracket, making things a bit more complicated.

I'm with you on the A/C though, I'd love to have it.

Not in Washington...  It's currently 61 degrees and rainy.   Rained all this week and expected rain all next week.  Boy, sometimes I miss California...
