Tire size?

Hey guys need some info. I have a 2000 TJ with 4banger, 5 speed, and 4.88 gears. It has 4in of lift. It has 33x12.5x15 on it now. The guy that had the jeep said he tried 35's but to much for engine. I am looking at pro comp xt and was thinking about 35's or should I stay with 33's. The jeep will be a D.D for about 6 more months.

Swap your axles to 44's front and rear and run your choice of 5.xx gearing.

If you're going to redo the axles in a years time then I'd just leave it.  You'll be getting new wheels and can upgrade the tires when you're geared properly.

I thought of that, however I need tires. The ones on it now are M/T's and they are worn down.

Can you start the axle swap now? Have you checked with other local 4wd forums and clubs near you for the larger size tires?

Since you have a stock axled Jeep, you should be able to find a set of tires rather easy. Hey, even check out the local salvage yard. Most Jeeps, either trail or street, when modified with the larger tires, the previous owner usually thinks this makes them capable.
