btw...I saw these on Xtreme 4x4...they are using them for the race series XJ.

They looked really cool as they have the d-ring steelie look in a nice alloy wheel....with a teflon coating so the mud and dirt fall off from the wheel well.

For me, neither. Simulation beadlock is only for the street, is easily damaged by rocks, sticks, etc., requires more cleaning work, and is too much bling for me.

I agree either get real beadlocks or don't get them at all.  If you do any trails that are more then dirt roads, you'll rat up the outer rim on those WHEELS.:wink:   Depending on what side wheels you go with and the tires, you could end up with a lot of nicks.

I also agree with Mozman that the Ion website sucks.  If you hit 'next' it takes you back to the home page instead of loading the next page.  The website has so much flash that it's slow to load too.  I wish MT/Alcoa made their Classic and Challenger wheels that are Forged still.  Those were nice wheels.

I thought I was the only one with that website problem.

I voted for the Ion because it was more unique than the M/T, but when you really start comparing wheels, dollars and personal opinions are what it's all about.  So many wheels look the same it's all a matter of how much and is it in stock (freight on wheels suck).

Real bead locks are real nice.  But they are not DOT approved, but most state patrols don't know that.  

Looking at those teflon wheels get me all giddy...   But black isn't polished that the two wheels we were comparing.  

Have you looked into Centerline?

I didn't vote. I Love my steel crager rims. If I damage them... O well $30 and I get a new rim!

There are actually a few DOT legal beadlocks.

Hutchinson Wheel


These are interesting and are made by Hutchinson Wheel.


The difference in the wheels is that these are three piece wheels and are double beadlocks.  You have two sections that bolt together you then also have a plastic tube that goes inside the tire.  When you bolt the two sides together it pinches the tube and locks the wheels.  It's the same design used with HMMWV wheels actually.

$300+ each is a bit expensive but they are cool. :bow:

The locking design on those Hutchinson wheels is sweet. How about a group buy on those? -- quadratec is $400 per wheel.    Definitely see those holding up my next set of tires, 31s or 33s.

id have to say the mc tombson.. we have them on 2 of our jeeps and thats the only reson i dont have them on mine.. same rims on 3 jeeps would be too much of the same.. so i just ahve the stock tires and rims from our rubicon on my jeep now..
