Hey everyone my name is Jason I am in Mcleansville NC I own a 97 Wrangler 2.5L with a 4" Rough country lift, 35x12.5 Mickey Thomson MTZ I have upgraded the rear axle to 8.8 limited slip it is currently geared 4.10. Not a daily driver mainly a weekend toy.

Modifications this winter included

            - Doing some serious 4 cylinder motor mods including complete rebuild with Modified Cam, injectors, TB work, electric fan and adding a free flowing exaust.
            - Re gearing to 4.88.
            - adding a 4-1 transfer case if possible.

Howdy everyone!  I'm Jim, and I'm here looking for some performance improvements to my '86 Comanche.  I'm using it for stage rally, and due to the rules, I have to stick with the 2.5L, so I'm looking for any way to squeeze a little more power out of the motor.

Hey everyone
My name is Matt, I come from the philadelphia area.I just got my first wrangler back in april. Its a 2000 2.5l TJ.  I've only done some minor mods to it. I redid the interior and put down a rhino liner type stuff, and also put on a grill guard, side steps and a new pair of lights on the front. I found this forum while i was looking online for ways to improve the driving performance on the high way. I was recently going to Penn state and couldn't get any power to make it up the hill . I was doing 35 mph the whole time. So I'm just looking for little ways to improve the performance and maybe get some more power in the higher gears.   :thumb:

Hey all, just thought I would check in!  My name is Chris and I live I Arkansas just outside of Memphis, tn.  I just traded my 91 4runner in for a 98 TJ and I'm pretty excited about it.  I've had a jeep before, but this is the first one with a 4 banger so I'm in virgin territory here. I'm sure I'll be using alot of the search button and asking questions.   Hope to see some of ya on the trails!

Nice to find this forum. I've been a Jeep owner off and on for years but right now I've got a 1993 YJ Wrangler 2.5 AX 5 no real mods yet other than paint and interior. The reason I'm joining the forum is because I've had intermittent electrical problems since the day I bought this one and I was just looking around to see what problems others are having and how they're fixing them. Hope to learn a lot.

Thanks,

Hey everyone!!

Good to be here. My name is Jeff. Im from Orange County, CA. Do most of my wheeling in the mountains near arrowhead. I'd look forward into putting in my input as well as recieving tips from everyone else on future mods and such..

My Jeep:

1990 YJ
2.5L 4banger, of course.
2.5" Pro-Comp Lift kit paired with a Spring-over.
Dana 44 axles off '89 Grand Wagoneer w/ 5.89 gears and rear detroit locker.
35" Pro-Comp X-terrain's

Everything else is pretty much stock. I am thinking about swapping in a TB from a 4.0L next. But any suggestion or tips on what I should go with next are much appreciated. And any questions? I'd love to talk, shoot em my way!

My name is Scott, I live in Seabeck, Wa. I do not own a Jeep, but am taking care of my sons Jeep.  He drives it when he comes home on leave from Alaska.  Since my wife and I drive it more than he does, I get to fix it.  So far have had the Tranny rebuilt and had it ReGeared with 4:88's. it already had a 3.5" - 4" lift installed when he bought it. New brakes all the way around (only thing not new is the brake lines and master cylinder).  Now that the basics are taken care of it is time to play.
1994 Jeep Wrangler, 2.5L, automatic, 2.5" lift, 4:88 gearing, 33" tires, 2.5" exhaust from manifold back, air restrictor removed.

You should start a build thread in the members section. I'd like to read more about your Jeep.  :thumb:

As requested,,,,

My name is David Taylor, I'm hopeless race addict from Portland Or...

My hobbies are hunting, Racing, Playing with any motor toy...

I have a 1994 Jeep Wrangle with 200K miles on it. Bought new by me,
has air lockers, 44 rear, Warn upgraded front end with their axles and hubs.
And probably the most important item a fairly well built 2.5 liter engine.

About a year and a half ago I scratched up the money and had my 2.5 totally rebuilt.
The engine Builder is Jeff Rayburn in Oregon City Oregon. He bored the engine over .040,
I purchased a hesco cam and lifter and chain kit. He fully ballanced and blueprinted the
engine, multi angle valve job, relieved the guides, Hyperutectic (SP?) pistons. massaged
the whole block. High Pressure Oil pump(Not High Volume), I added a 62mm throttle body
and a 3/4 in spacer.  After a LOT of fiddling I got the thing running right, being bitten
twice in a month with a bad TPS and IAC that I had bought new when I did the motor. :(
The engine pulls from about 2500 to about 7000 without the throttle spacer and 1700 to
6000 with the spacer. Its still a 4 banger but it has great torque and drive-ability compared
to original.

I met him through my hobby of
racing cars. I had a road racing license for several years, drove a Mazda RX3 with a friend of mine
at PIR international raceway in Portland Oregon.  To support my habit I worked a deal
with another friend of mine who owns Competition Motorsports here in Portland,
I would maintain his rental race cars in exchange for seat time.

I helped Maintain a 1984 200SX Turbo that holds track records at 4 tracks,
a set of rental race cars, nissan Sentra's 3 of them... Great little school cars.
I've helped work on dozens of cars at PIR as well as Rons Dirt cars, a Wingless
Sprint car (smallblock chev 600+ hp in a 1000 lb car!) and a Midget with a Cosworth 4
cylinder that makes up for its small displacement with a lot of rpm's. Jeff built the
engines for all these cars.

So I've spent a fair amount of time since 1999 working fiddling and wasting time on race cars... :)

I also was a member of the Oregon State Trail committee from 1994 to 1997.
I helped GPS map a lot of the trails in the Tillamook forest here in Oregon...

I think I've known Jeff Yokomura virtually over the Internet since about
1993? Jeff how long? and I think we met a couple times what about 10 years
or so ago? He thought I ought-a join and share my pain of trying to torture more
power out of possibly the worst engine management system ever built for a
production vehicle. The original MPFI 2.5/  ;)

Well wasted enough electrons....
