Hello all.  I'm Matt, the owner of a 99 TJ SE.  Still stock other than over sized tires.

She got rolled a few years back.  I fixed her up enough to get her drivable because at the time she was my daily driver.  Just needed new windshield frame, windshield, top, and a lot of hammering to get the rear body back in shape enough to hold the top.  Shortly after I got married she started acting up, stalling out when idle then refusing to start.  Then she would fire back up no problem shortly after.  I took her to a shop that fixed the problem, but they pointed out that I had an exhaust leak.

After that I found out I was gonna be a daddy and the wife made me buy a baby safe vehicle.  Ended up getting a 2006 Liberty that is a POS.  Since I wasn't driving the wrangler I took it upon myself to fix the exhaust leak.  Was a snapped stud at the rear of the manifold.  Guess it was a small leak, thats why I never noticed it.

Well, now the wrangler is just sitting.  Parked in storage and I'm sure it's gonna need some work from sitting for so long.  Thats why I came here.  To see what I should do before firing her back up and to see what kind of engine mods might sound interesting.

Hey all,  My name is Paul, and I'd like to say I am extremely grateful I found this site!!     I've had my 93 YJ for almost a year, and I was dying not having anyone to talk 4cyl with.  I'm from California and living near San Diego.  My Jeep isn't too crazy yet, but I'm running:
2-3" spring lift
1" front shackle lift (rear to come....hopefully very soon!)
'04 stock Rubicon wheels/tires
electric cooling fan

Currently....she is dead.  Something horrific happened in my engine, and I have been in Hawaii training, so I couldn't rip her apart yet!  All I can tell you is that it sounds like a bomb is going off inside when i turn it over...  and it refuses to idle (understandably).
I am looking to replicate YJmechanic's  2.5 build here in a couple weeks granted that the block isn't damaged (praying).

Anyway, I can't wait to get to know you all and hopefully hit some trails in the near future!

Paul

MGD is what I go by. l've always wanted a small wheel base jeep to wrench on and wheel around on the weekends with the big yellow dog. I bought a '93 YJ 2.5 liter 5 spd manual, 3" lift, 33"x11.5's, soft top with fairly nice black paint job last November & I love the jeep, it's been an experience of discovery since the first day, really trying to discover why the PO felt he had to mess with the wiring. Oh, & the 2nd day I had it & my wifes first drive the drivers side rear wheel came off as we drove home from dinner. Made some serious memories & husband points.
My family of four and I live in Bremerton, WA which is the gateway to the paradise of the Olympic Peninsula & Olympic National Park. That's about all there is to say, love the jeep experience & look'n forward to many happy trails & camp fires.

I own a 92 YJ with the 4-banger.  Mods to motor are elec. fan, body spacer, and cold air intake.  Drive train mods are 4.88 gears.  And exterior mods are 3" body lift, 2" sup. lift, 33" tires and rims.  And inside, I had elect. problems from PO.  So I eliminated all factory switches, installed aluminum panels, and went to toggle switches with LEDs.  Total pain, but looks good.  Right now I'm doing body work on it.  My Jeep and I have a love hate relationship.  But it is fun.

Hello all! Just signed up since I just got my second 2.5l tj! Had a ninety eight after high school years ago and just picked up a 97 for fee here in Germany where I live!  So far I've got a nowless rampage soft top, hard upper sliders. Brand new 2.5 engine from Marshall, four inch suspension and three inch body lift( I know I know). All while running 215 tires, ha ha. It's funny looking but it's a work in progress!

It's on 31 bfg at's with 2.5 ome suspension and 1 inch shackles. Its a great little jeep thinkin about going for some 32 mt's once these are worn out. I'm also over on jeepforum under the same name. I figured I would come over here because I can get more info from my four banger brothers. Hope I can help contribute to the forum and I look forward to recieving some great advice from some fellow jeepers.

I am married with 3 boys. I was looking to find a hobby here in Arizone (from Ohio). I bought a 97 TJ with 2.5, hard top, automatic, and budget 2 inch lift. This has turned out to be one of the greatest purchases made in my 18 years of marrage. The boys (ages 16,9,3) love the thing, and are spending more time with dad, and even my wife likes the thing now, and she used to hate jeeps. We all know that the wife is half of the battle, and she now thinks that I should go large. I have limited budget, but not poor either. I love Jeeps, but hate the 100+ degree weather of Arizona.....
