Heater core halloween

Well I woke up this morning still dressed in my halloween costume, went out to the freedom machine to give the lady friend a ride to school, and noticed that the floorboards were covered with green fluid, I was hoping some little kids played a halloween prank on me but no it was antifreeze leaking allover the place-heater core is done i guess.

So I go to the dealership and a repair shop to get some quotes
Dealer 700$
Repair shop: 1000$

this blows anyone know how I could this done cheaper, apparently its a real pain the ass to get to the core, the book says labor for it will be like 7.9 hours.  Any ways I told em to bypass the core by connecting some hoses together so in the interim my engine will not overheat and blow-but I got no heat or defrost and winter is just beginning.

Do it yourself.  A core is probably around $100-150.  It will take a few hours because you've got to take apart half the dash.  That's the hard part.

All the shop did was connect the inlet and outlet lines that pass from the engine through the firewall together.

I'm really sorry to hear about another heater core issue...   I'm not at all looking forward to the time I have to go back to these posts and get mine taken care of.   I'll just keep my fingers crossed.

Now about this:

Pull the drain plugs and grab the hose, one of the best things about a Jeep!

Well I finally found a shop to take the jeep to, to get the heat fixed, actually had it done about 3 weeks just never posted, anyways I just wanted to mention the huge gap in estimate prices I got

Chrystler Jeep Dealership in Boulder, Co: $700
Private garage next to it: $1000!
Chrystler Jeep dealership in Bemidji, MN: $620
Bumper to Bumper car repair: $440

Needless to say i took the 440 and heat is working great.  the biggest difference was the part itself which the dealerships were asking 250 and the private garage had one for 75
