I don't really like those tires.  I've never seen anyone run them other then on some promo truck.  It doesn't state if they are Radials or Bias-ply.  Most of Interco's tires are Bias-ply unless stated though.  If that's the case, they will wear fairly fast.  They will get flat spots overnight.  I know people still buy their Thornbirds thinking they're going to be good offroad/onroad tires ( read: they look very aggressive, but aren't) and they end up being the pretty bad on both ends.

Although I do like the looks of the TrXus MT's.  Still for tires that small, I'd probably go with some BFG's or maybe wait for a 4 for 3 deal from 4WPW if you're looking for a decent inexpensive tire.  Also consider what others in that area use.

If you have a TJ, how come you're not buying 31's - thought a TJ could handle those with no lift? SWB Wranglers don't start looking like they have the right size tires until they're wearing at-least 31s, IMHO.  31s are also usually what all the off-road clubs require you at-least to have to go on trail runs.

I use 29s on my YJ, cause I haven't lifted it yet.

Those tires you've chosen look aggressive enough.  But, they make some top-flight, top-reviewed tires that are true all-terrain tires - Bridgestone Revos, Goodyear Kevlar.  But, guess it all depends on how/where you are mostly going to drive your rig.

If it was me with a TJ, I'd buy 5, at least 31" Bridgestone Revos.  Hope the one's you are looking at work for you.    :D

Bunch of guys in my club use them and they reccomend them highly...they were at the top of my list until Dick Cepak came out with their MT's (running the AT's now).

They are radial....

I was thinking about those when I was looking. I did a lot of research and found out that those do very poorly in the mud, that they turn into slicks as soon as they hit mud, but are pretty good in sand and snow
The TrXus MT have a lot of great reviews and are not that much more.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll have to check and see if they are radials or bias ply. I've used bias ply on a delivery truck that I use to own at one point and I hated them. I'm not looking to join any clubs or do any heavy wheeling with the tj since it now my daily driver. I have the yj for wheeling with once I get it finished. I mainly need these for the winter/snow. If they are radial, I'll more than likely get them.

Hey Jeffy, thanks for asking if they were biased or radial. Turns out they are biased so scratch that idea.

chrisfranklin, I'm not going with 31's because my tj is of course a 4banger but it also has an auto trans in it and it's a real slush box. I don't want any more loss of power than I need. I'll step up the tire size when I can afford a new set of gears.

I think I'm going to go with these:

Heck, I can even get these in 225's! :D

Well it looks like some are Radial and some are Bias.

Personally, I think if you're going to go with TSL's you might as well go with bias ply.  The Radials don't last much longer then the bias and the bias are cheaper.

i don't know much about different off road tires cuz i haven't had much experience with different tires. but we just put some new superswamper tsl's on my grandpas jeep and they have allot of traction in mud and boggy surfaces... but i wouldn't advise running them on road..

Does that mean they have a short life? If so, I don't want that. Do you have any recommendations on something similar size wise that would last longer?

Typically, you wouldn't look at Interco if you want the tires to last especially if you drive on the pavement for any extended period of time.  I have friends who rand the Radia's and they went back to Bias ply for the tougher tire.  Others have tried SSR's then went with GY MTR's because they drive onroad a lot, too.

Tried and true tire is the BFG, but there are others out there too.  Bridgestone Dueler MT's, Dunlop MT's, Yokohama Geolander MT, etc...  They all have decent tires.  Depending on how much offroad you plan on doing will dictate which one is better.  Not to mention terrain.

BFG AT's and MT's are really good all around tires that will last over 40K miles.  I believe they're supposed to be around 60K miles actually.  They are very popular and are decent tires on the trails.

Some people have gone with the Pro-Comp AT's and MT's with the 4 for 3 deal.  They are ok tires but not unless there is a deal going on.  Otherwise you'd be better off with the BFG's.

The GY MTR's are a really nice tire. They are a lot thicker then most other tires except for TSL Bias and maybe BFG Krawlers.  They aren't mud tires.    If you can afford them, they are probably the best of both worlds tires.

Most guy's out west don't run Mickey Thompsons or Dick Cepek's.  Depending on which tires you're looking at, it could be bias belted or radial.  The M/T Baja Belted HP's and the Dick Cepek FC's were popular in the early 90's though.

The big name tires like TrXus, MTR, PJ, PC xtreme, BFG Krawlers, M/T BajaClaws, Maxxis Creepy Crawlers, Toyo Open Country, etc... tend to cost more.

Although if you want a street tire then you'll probably be looking at a basic SUV/truck tire.  These are basically oversized car tires made to fit a small truck.  They aren't very good offroad but they do well onroad.  Most AT's fit into this category, Bridgestone, Dunlop, Continential, Kumho, Firestone, Goodyear, BFG, Yokohama, Parelli, etc...

Ok, here is a deal I got at my local tire/garage place.

4 of these:

With 4 of these mounted to the above for $619.00 + M&B.

30.0/10.50 R15LT; Mickey Thompson Baja Radial MTX
Not quite as aggresive as I wanted but not a bad deal. Without the deal it would have cost me right around $900.00 to $1000.00 for the package. Saving money is good!8)  Oh, and yes I'm buying a 5th rim and tire for the spare.  :D
