Whoops, had a miss shift the other day and went into 2nd while doing over 50mph.  Wow, does that thing rise fast!  Before I knew it the RPM's were over 6000 and climbing.  Now I on many occasions do rev the engine up over 5000 rpm BUT it's done more steadily and not instantaneously like this was.  I'm not sure if the ECM ever retarded the timing or shut down any cylinders.  I didn't notice it misfiring which is strange since it's supposed to have a rev limiter at around 5600rpm.  So anyway, before it got to 7K I hit the clutch and shifted into 3rd.  I'm sure I knocked off any carbon that may have built up the in cylinders.

I drove it around yesterday and it ran fine.  Oil pressure was normal although I did watch it more.

It was a stupid thing to do and only a split second to choose.  Instead of forcing it into 3rd, I dropped it into 2nd as I was loosing speed fast and needed to keep pace.

I've been in a car that had a more catastrophic misshift before.  It started knocking right away...

I did that once in my old car.  I was down shifting on the highway from 5th to 4th and went into 2nd, she screamed pretty good, but I got the clutch back in pretty quick.  I didn't think I could move that fast
