This SRT-6 thing is interesting, but it wasn't quite what I had in mind.
I was thinking a "SRT-8" Wrangler Rubicon (kind of DCs version of the AEV Hemi Rubicon conversion) that swapped in the 6.1 Hemi and a beefed up drivetrain while keeping stock ride-height, selectable lockers, 4:1, etc. Only, it just sounded like it would be for too limited a market and not worth the investment for DC. Figured "SRT" (kind of like Toyota's "TRD" for their rear-locker pickups), because regardless of what the abreviation stands for,
who in their right mind would mess with the Wrangler's off-road-ability (SRT "Performance" nomenclature or no)?
I guess the supercharged V6 is less expensive for them than the 6.1 Hemi. But, what are they going to have to do to the drivetrain on the JK to get it to accomodate a 400hp(?) Supercharged V6? (Edit: oh, bigger axles to start) Doing the big engine on the SRT-8 Grand Cherokee saw DC lower it, leave it with some kind of AWD system and kill its off-road use. DC's going to do this to the JK Wrangler?
(But, hey, who in the market uses their Jeep off-road anyway
? DC: "Jeep is a profit-center...we gotta do something to capitalize on the brand futher!" Yah, Dieter
)
