Freedom machine is my only vehicle.  Taking it on a solid roadtrip in three weeks (Boulder Co, to Northern Minnesota) I hope i can get around 20 mpg, I just got a TBS in the mail and my 4.0 TB is on the way hopefully those help the mph a little.  Going 65 through Nebraska is no way travel.

I was financing my Audi for $550 a month and decided I had enough....paid $8200 cash for my 2000 TJ and now I've been spending $1,000 a month since I owned it!!

Seriously...that was just to get the basics (soft tops, new wheels, stereo, center console, etc.) and now I'm not looking to spend any more until I decide to drop $700-1000 on the 3" lift (and then another $1000 next year to jump up to 33's).

Only commute about 12 miles a day total and TRY and ride my bike to work when I feel like it.....so MPG is not an issue...and the 15-16 I'm getting right now around town isn't much worst than the 18-19 I was getting with the Audi.
2009 Audi S5....what....its 4wd...sort of....

Stock Jeeps or with mild mods.

I think if I kept my Jeep under 65mph, I'd get back into the 20's.  Only problem is everyone else wants to go 70-80mph so it can be a bit dangerous.

In the city it does alright except for all of the stop and go.

I would like to know the same thing I also get around 16, 17 mpg and see that lowered while driving on the highway.  Jeffy if probably right that i would see 20 mpg if i drove 60 instead of 70

^ make sure all your maintnance items are up to date. I was getting around 16-17 when i bought my jeep, then I changed out my fuel filter/cap/rotor/plugs/o2 sensor/eletric fan and i'm getting about 19mpg now. This is all city though.

I drive my TJ everyday. I have the 4 banger and 31X10.50 BFG AT's, and I average around 18 mpg myself. I too would like to know how to break the 20 mpg threshold. I have heard that opening up the air a little, and possibly adding the 4.0 throttle body will increase this. Anyone else done this and gotten good results with MPG?

^ i'm wondering the same thing. I already bought a spacer and am looking for a 4.0 throttle body... I'm hoping i can gain alittle bit out of it. I'm betting my broken exaust manifold stud isn't helping out my mpg to much either, but i dont plan to fix that till I either build a header or buy one hehe.

i gave up smoking so i could afford frosty's

only kiddie size though

i figured out my fuel economy when i was running my 2 piece best top hard top and had all my tools and crap in the back so i'm sure it's a little better now that summer is here and i have no top or doors.... unless aerodynamics would kill my mpg that bad....
