With gas prices going up with no sight of them falling anytime soon; do you drive your Jeep everyday?

Can't afford any other option. but 15+ mpg on average isn't to bad, yet. but then again I expect Hurricane Katrina to be responsible for a $0.10+ rise in prices at the pump. I'm still doing 1 tank per week. But I did park the wife's suburban when it hit $50 every week and didn't fill the tank. We're not to far from that right now.

Great, if I did jump on the econobox bandwagon the neighbors would bitch about the suburban and 2 jeeps sitting in my drive way. I think the government will have to step in here soon. When we hit $3.00 in San Antonio that will be close to doubling the price of fuel in less than 3 years.  Venzuela is still $0.12 a gallon.  It will have a hugely negative effect on the economy, imho.

BTW if the economy is doing so well, how come I didn't get a raise so I could afford to spend more on gas and everything else?

I drive the Jeep once a week.  I now finally have someone to go off-roading with again so I take it out every weekend, before that it just sat in the garage and I had to turn it on every week to the oil wouldn't settle.  For a DD, I use a 95 Nissan truck, which does 24mpg, but that's only twice a week when I go to school.  Other days I either stay home or catch a ride with one of my friends.  During the small break I had between the summer semester and now the fall semester I probably only drove twice.  All my friends have compacts, so they don't really care that I don't drive and need to catch a ride.

Fortunately, I have a work truck that I am allowed to drive 24/7, no questions asked, and the best part, gas is paid by them.   My XJ sits awaiting many project completions and is driven very rarely at this time.

I drive the TJ everychance I get, gas mileage is @25 mpg and it holds speed on the highway.  My only drawback is the A/C, only works part-time and that is a killer here in Phoenix where temps are @113 on the drive home.

I drive my Jeep every day.  We do opt to take the Audi now though when we can because it gets about 24/30.

Yep, my Jeep is my daily driver.  At close to 20 m.p.g., it's my "high-efficiency" vehicle.

Of course, I just cut my driven miles per year significantly by moving back to the Tidewater area.  I'm now 4 miles from work instead of 17.  Between the reduced insurance premiums and the fuel savings, I figure I'm going to save at least $1,000 per year.  Pretty cool...  8)

My Jeep is the only tagged vehicle I own and I drive it every day. I'm seriously thinking about getting a moped to get back and forth to work now. With gas prices going the way they are it should pay for it's self before the year is over.

Yuppers, I drive it 70+ miles a day, round trip to and from work.  Getting in the average of 23 mpg range now, with occasional gusts to 25!!  It's a bear in the heat of summer with no air, but I take out all the windows and the doors, then leave just the top on like an oversized bikini top to give me some shade from the Kansas sun.  It get's pretty stifling sitting at traffic lights with the sun beating down on me and no wind, or with a 20 mph blast furnace wind off the pavement.  Sunshine isn't working now, and I could be driving her Camry.....but I'd rather drive the YJ and pay a little more each week in gas just for the love of the Jeep!! 8)

I not only drive it every day, but I often drive long distances.  I put 80,000 on my 95 YJ in the last 3 years and I didn't drive at all all this summer due to an aviation accident.  Mild wheeling and lots of highway, but wouldn't drive anything else.  If I had the time and money for another vehicle, it would be a Jeep or maybe a Jeep!

My TJ is my daily driver, and luckily I only work a couple of miles from my house, so fuel efficiency isn't really an issue for me.  The only downside is since it's my daily driver I'm hesitant to take it out and wheel it really hard on the weekends.  I'll probably get a new Jeep in a couple of years, and set my current TJ aside as a toy.

I voted...

One of my great selling points of my Jeep, was that it was my daily driver.  Then I picked up a lil' sporty Nissan, and I've been racing that to and from work.  I see my Jeep every morning and every night, and I miss driving it dearly.  But as most of you mentioned, with gas rising, crappy gas mileage and just the ability to let it park (not add any more wear and tear than necessary), I kinda like the parked Jeep.

I have dreams of disassembling parts, spending weeks to put it back together, and not have to worry about it.  I dream of taking it wheeling (which I haven't had a chance to do in quite some time), thrashing on it, and not have to worry about it being my only form of transportation.

I could still consider my Jeep a daily driver.  I'm just lucky that I don't have to drive it everyday, only when I want to.

Since I work and live on base (military) I either drive my Jeep, or ride my mountain bike (weather depending).  I'll sometimes drive it cross-country if I am going to a school.  Cracked exaust manifold, rusted out exaust system (cat's probably clogged too), and 33x13.50s and I'm still getting 15-18 mpg and hitting 75 mph (on my GPS).

I am fortunate to have a company truck here at the house.  That  lets the YJ full for the weekends.
