Cracked manifold common on the 2.5????
« on: May 05, 2007, 10:35:18 AM »
I have to take the TJ in to get an exhaust leak and some hanger issues taken care of. Part of the problem is that it looks like the rear mounting stud is busted. But I was wondering, just how common is it for the 2.5 exhaust manifold to crack? Where does it ususally crack? I know it was a big problem with the 4.0, but haven't heard much about the 2.5 manifold.

I've heard of a few cracking but it's not really a problem.  The 2.5L and the 4.0L have very different harmonics.  If anything the 2.5L seems to be the rougher of the two.

I don't know about cracking but it seems that quite a few people have had a broken rear stud for the exhaust manifold (including me).

Hell yeah, I had a bitch of a time getting the manifold bolts out when I installed a header.
