I wouldn't think it would have an effect being as the sensor is located before the cat. The problem with clearing the cat is that you'll more than likely lose power on the bottom end. You might gain some on the top but with all the hills in this area I'd think you'd want to keep what you have on the bottom. I'd go with a high flow cat before clearing the one you have. A&A has them in stock and I've seen them on the shelf in the exhaust isle. Whatever you choose, let us know how it worked for you.

Well, if he has a TJ it would have two O2 sensors.  One up stream of the cat and one down stream of the cat.  In which case it would through a CEL.  Honestly though, there are better ways do make power then to hollow out the cat.

For some reason I assumed he was talking about a yj. Now that I think of it I think he's running a tj. Hollowed out cats mess up your engines intake/exhaust pulse. Go with a high flow.

hey guys, I am on a tj. i need to post you guys some pics. the only reason i asked about the cat is becuase i had an xj 5 speed with the HO motor and i ruined the cat one night and it clogged itself. so i bought a mangaflow highflo from a n a but it was close to a hundred bucks, but you could hear/ feel the difference.

anyway i left the cat alone, i put on my banks headers and a flowmaster and i hnestly dont think that there is a difference at all, is this becuase i didnt touch my intake yet? im just waiting for the parts to come in the mail.  and im going to get a 4.o TB soon. i hope that makes the difference, ok guys well let me know what you think, thanks Mike

I'd say yes. You don't have any added air coming into the engine so the header and flowmaster won't make much a difference as far as spent gas and air exiting. When you're ready for 4.0l t.b. check out Valentis scrapyard across the street from the K-Mart shopping center in Edwardsville. I got mine from there. It came off of a rolled over grand Cherokee and only cost me $40.00.
