Topic: Trunks??

I would like to put in something that can lock and will saty put in the "trunk" area of my jeep.  does anyone have any suggestions on one to buy, or even better, one that I can make??

i have a best top institrunk nice that i can still have the rear seat with it. but its kinda useless in the fact that my rear lock is seized. they would be fairly easy to make with a piece of sheet metal and a bender. and some sheet metal screws and weather striping.

I kinda like the FxD which seals off the whole back area. (no rear seat)

Tuffy makes a good product but it is expensive.

I use the BestTop InstaTrunk...nice for locking up winch supplies, but too small to hold my computer bag which sucks.  Does what I need it to do in the Summer time though or when I have my soft top on.  I take it out when the hard top's on.

I made this out of some scrap aluminum. Cost about $20 and an afternoon.
To secure the seat just drill a hole and put a hitch pin in the latch.

I run some old bestop roughrider enclosures that they don't make anymore.  They lock, but the are plastic so it only keeps the honest people out

Cool.  I'm looking more for keeping my tools from going air born while I'm hitting bumps.  I'm thinking about getting a used crafstman small tool box with sliding trays and mounting it to the floor as well as the lid cover.  I have an old crafstman now, but it has no sliding trays and getting to the bottom to grab my 3lb mallet is a hell of an ordeal.  I'll snap some pictures if I ever get started and stop dreaming.

What I think works best for tools in a jeep is just a good tool bag locked in a compartment.  Doesn't rattle and you can grab it easily and bring it where its needed

I would bolt small footman loops behind the rear seat and strap the toolbox down.

That's a good idea.  I wish I did that back before I've been driving around with a metal old box back there.  Looks like someone attacked the back of my door with chainmail.  Herculiner should cover it up.

Before I put my spare in the bed of the Jeep I had a Kobalt toolbox that fit perfectly between the wheel wells that held all my tools, I mounted the socket rails to one of the drawers to keep them from rolling around and put drawer liners in and bought a set of kobalt wrenches that had their own holder and mounted that down in another drawer and it didnt rattle that bad.  I never noticed it over any of the other noises the jeep made

Jeep did have an optional trunk compartment
behind the rear seat that was lockable with the tailgate.
Most Rio Grande's had them and some Sahara's.
