Borla cat-back question
« on: November 16, 2007, 02:23:20 PM »
So I've decided to replace my exhaust from the manifold all the way back.  Stainless steel construction is the most important thing to me.  A forever type warranty is nice too.
It seems, Borla makes a cat-back for the 4.0 yj only, while Magnaflow says theirs works for the both 2.5 and 4.0 yj.  This confuses me.  I want the borla because I found one for cheap(er).  Borla says, "the 2.5L YJ application has not been tested by our development people so we can't say it works."  I've looked all over for other opinions but can't find an answer.  I read the article about the replacement cat and muffler along with countless other threads here and elsewhere.  No dice.

So the question is simply, will the Borla cat-back system listed for the 4.0L YJ fit the 2.5L YJ without having to re-work anything?  This is an otherwise stock application.  That is, an unlifted 2.5L YJ.

Thanks in advance.  When I perform the installation, I'll attempt a write up.  Should be fun.

Paddy

Sweet.  Just what I wanted to hear.  No where around could I find anything saying that that part number would fit the 2.5L.
Jeffy, i had read that article.  Very good but still didn't answer the question outright.

Thanks much.

There should be little to no difference between the exhausts form the cat-back.  Although, if you want the part number it's #14616 for a '91-'95 2.5L.  Seems that some places list it as '87-'91 though.
