1994 YJ check engine light
« on: December 02, 2007, 08:11:03 PM »
This evening i started out on my three hour journey back to OH for work. The weather is miserable , heavy rains and winds.
Well about 100 miles into the trip my speedometer quits working, no biggy the Jeeps got 115k on it. About 5 minutes after that the check engine light comes on.  I pull over at the nearest gas station and start checking things as best i could and can't seem to find anything wrong.  The engine starts and runs find the only thing i noticed is it seems to idle slightly lower and rougher than usual.
I am stuck here til next weekend with no tools or anything so i can't really check out anything.
Anyone have an idea on what this could be ?

Seems to me you will find a code 15 no sppedsensor signal under load since the speedo does not work.
Would not hurt to check the speed sensor wires underneath the Jeep on the transfer case. If its the case it should not be a problem to drive it back home
