Topic: non 8.8 rear axle

I have been trying to find an 8.8 in the junk yards but i can't, ive got S10s coming out my rear end (no pun intended). So what i am asking is would any of you guys think a 10 bolt could handle moderate offroading and 35s or even 33s? I thank you for any input

10 bolt isn't much of an upgrade.  I'd probably go with a 8.25 over a 10 bolt.  How about a D44 or even a Toyota 8"?  Ford 9?

Time to take a trip to MN with a trailer.  As many as you can haul for around $90 a piece.

well 44s are also hard to find, Toyota none in the you pick, and the ''we pick you don't save'' yards want more then girls fiero is worth for any kind of axle. Ford 9'' mostly too wide not too hard to find, but i don't want to get into cutting up parts as i would like to keep it cheapish. unless i just run full with axles. but then I'd like matching bolt patterns, and front ends kinda scare me with the whole steering/alignment thing.

I get most stuff at the u-pull, but if you want cheap 8.8's and AW4's then Abco in fridley is the place to go.  Prices are low, the counter people are slow and they load it into your car for you.

8.8's go for $350.00 around here.  Don't forget about the Mercury Mountaineer!

well my favorite yard is $75 any rear axle and, $135 any front axle both complete less rims and springs,so i am just thinkig of going with full with axles from the same truck but what would be the best setup to look for (

can also use the rears out of lincoln town cars, they are 8.8 also, but they are only 28spline...
