Why I don't like most hummer owners...
« on: March 17, 2008, 08:46:52 AM »
So as I got out of work.. I look at my Jeep. There is a hummer next to me.. On my hood, written in the snow, is "H2 FOR LIFE."

Why would you touch someone elses car???? :brick:

Most hummer owners think they have bought the greatest offroad vehicle.  Its a money/pretige thing for them.  The very few that actually take them off road find out real quick how sucky they are.  A lot of that has to do with the driver.  That said I see a lot of private school rich kids around here driving Rubicons that probably don't even know what they got.

To be perfectly honest, and having driven Hummers before (and I will grant you that when they first came out, I liked both the H1 and H2 until I actually drove them!), I can tell you I would never trade the Jeep for a Hummer.

Offroad, I have yet to see a Hummer outperform a Jeep (even old ones or 4-bangers!).  On the road, you do not "drive" a Hummer; you "sail" a Hummer, as those things are SOOOOO big, and have such POOR visibility, that you have no idea where the car ends, what's behind you (even with the back-up camera that you see pop out of the rear view mirror!), or what's on the sides.  They are a beast to turn around (U turn), and suck even more fuel than my Jeep (which is not economical to start with!).

They do have all the creature comforts that you can imagine, but they forgot the most important of all; making a product that you can actually DRIVE!  Maybe they should have thought about including one more extra; RADAR!

I mean can you imagine having to winch one of these things from the mud?  You would need like a 5 ton winch to start with, not to mention the difficulty of finding an anchor point that would be strong enough to hold!

Uuuummmm....I actually wheeled twice over the last month with an H3 that just joined our club.

Only a few inches wider then most of the Jeeps running....and has done a real good job of navigating the trails.  I was actually impressed with how well it wheeled with nothing more than some nice tires.  I will post a video I took this past weekend when I add my St. Patty's Day run thread to the site.

Well, really he didn't touch your Jeep.  It's just snow.  OK, if someone keyed it into the paint that's one thing but snow melts/falls off.  I wouldn't get bent out of shape by it.  You should of made a snow penis on his hood.

True... but where I come from, if you didn't buy it, you dont touch it. I really don't care... just just shows that the competition between Jeeps and Crummers still live strong.... :weee:

Its all good.. I know I could out wheel him anyways... silly rich boy....  :asshat:

Another thing....have you priced out a Hummer recently??  They are priced extremely well.....I got the deal of a century on my Commander and the Hummer still came close with standard pricing.

I would buy one if everyone didn't think I was an ass just for having one.....and I don't want anyone thinking I'm compensating for other areas.  I have a hot wife for that.... :roflol:

Yeah there is  a few things that I wouldn't mind owning but the majority of people that buy them are tools.

You don't need a hummer for everyone to think you're an ass.   :wall:

I should claify that I was talking about the H1 and H2...  Have not driven the H3 (but then again, I dont like the look of that one).

when we where in moab this year someone had a h3.. thing was it didn't have low range so they where horribly low on power... but the h3 is at least a not such an outrageously sized vehicle.. and with a low range model they shouldn't be too bad offroad.

Isn't the h2 so heavy that it is exempt from fuel economy ratings?  I have always felt that Jeeps are the best for rock crawling.  I can't think of a more well equipped vehicle for that type of offroading (besides the d35) straight from the factory.  That being said, I have always wanted to drive a humvee truck in the dunes to see how it does.  Anyone know?
