Isn't the h2 so heavy that it is exempt from fuel economy ratings?  I have always felt that Jeeps are the best for rock crawling.  I can't think of a more well equipped vehicle for that type of offroading (besides the d35) straight from the factory.  That being said, I have always wanted to drive a humvee truck in the dunes to see how it does.  Anyone know?

The only Hummers that are worth a darn are the H1s & H1 Alphas.  Heck, I'd buy one of those.

The H2s and H3s are all fine, but are not really breaking any new ground, unfortunately.  Could have called them Chevy Trucks with quasi-military bodywork.

You don't need a hummer for everyone to think you're an ass.   :wall:

I mean for the people that don't know me already..... :twofingers:

Here's the video of the Hummer in my club.....it's not like we're doing Hell's Revenge in Moab, but it keeps up just fine with the rest of the rigs.  Then again, we had a stock Liberty on our run as well.

Back home, H1's would get stuck ot the the mud all the time...  Too heavy and too wide for mud.  The belly would hit the mud, and end of the way for the hummer until it got pulled out.

Moz, I cannot see the video...

I know the H1s are hardly perfect.   Do admire the technology on the things:  the inboard brakes, 4 wheel indy susension w/ridiculous ground clearance and stability, in-cab tire deflation, ability with water crossings

Of course, the H1 is underpowered (Alpha is little better) and loud.  It is a diesel which is give you some fuel options including grease etc, sure.   But the H1s power-to-weight ratio makes the 4banger jp seem comparitively quick.  And of course, the H1 will  get high centered cresting sand dunes, mud sounds like its a problem unless maybe they fit some tires that distribute the weight a little better, the H1's engine is wedged in the middle of the interior, and its just plain big -- manuevering on trails is no cinch if its even possible at all.

So.....you're saying the H3 can keep up with a stock liberty.

Got it.  :thumb:

Isn't an H3 just a Trailblazer with uglier bodywork?

hah....the Liberty actually got stuck quite a few times. What surprise considering it was running street tires. But I was surprised at how well it did.

They still suck, did anyone have issues with that hill?  It looked easy on the video :puzzled:  There is a hummer park near me and I have seen some in action and they would be my last choice of new offroad vehicles right now.

I believe that it is based off of the Colorado/Canyon frame, just with different/better? Spring rates.
