x2 I haven't been impressed with anything I've had SmittyBuilt in the past.
Smittybuilt doesn't really make much. Actually the old Smittybuilt made bumpers and nerfs. The new Smittybuilt is owned by Trans-something, I believe. They are the sames ones who own 4WPW, 4WDH, Pro-Comp Explorer, etc... They are also the ones who bought a lot of the old Steelhorse stuff. But like Steel horse, they do not actually make anything themselves. They are a marketing brand so to speak. They sell stuff under their brand name which is actually made by smaller unknown companies. The problem comes when no one does QC. That's what really killed Steel Horse.
But like others have said, I'd go with Bestop. They are a top tier company. They also have a budget line company called Pavement Ends, which sells older Bestop designed stuff at a lower price.
