Gas?
« on: June 25, 2008, 04:09:10 PM »
So gas has hit an all time high where i live $4.06 a gallon, it is absolutely getting to be ridiculous.  What all do you suggest i do to my jeep to keep up performance and increase my MPG's???

Any and all ideas are welcome...

Try $4.39-$4.59.  Cost me over $70 to fill my tank with 16gal.  The #1 thing to do is drive less aggressive and learn some gas saving techniques.

Keep the Jeep stock is probably a good idea too but it's not as much fun.

Extremely lucky to pay only $4.06.  In the Bay Area California I wait in line with for about 20min to pay Costco $4.59 a gallon of 87 octane.

I have seen the 91 octane at Shell a couple cents away from $5 bucks.

Enjoy the savings,

It's not that bad here in South MS.  I just paid $3.87/gal (can't believe I'm saying that's not bad) today on my way home.  Still a lot of money for gas... and today the barrel sky rocketted back to $140, so if you haven't yet, you should go gas up, cause it's probably raise gas prices over the weekend.

I NEVER WHINED OR COMPLAIND ABOUT THE POWER OR MIALAGE FROM MY JEEP WHEN I HAD IT, NEVER,
that being said i was making a comment about you Americana's complaining ALL the time, so i told you what i am paying and asked you to stop. If you are going to give me a hard time about ASKING you to stop whining about fuel prices I'll just ask to have my account deleted, as i not longer directly own my jeep and THOUGHT this place had friendly people with strong conversion and great information, but it seems to be changing.

There are a few things you can do to get better mileage, but in the end, it's still a brick on wheels. Right now I'm getting 20 mpg with an automatic, full doors, and hard top. So that's not bad. Honestly try going here, http://www.mpgresearch.com/. They have a lot of good info and cool ideas. I really haven't had a chance to try much, but really want to pull the motor and build it first before I do too much.

Just paid $4.95 for 87 in Pasadena ,CA! How is it that the gas in CA is more than say Missouri? Why is everything in CA so much more expensive? If i made what I made in Wisconsin I would live like a king, and have 10 of the most awesome jeeps ever! AH I guess the weather!

Because we have 'special' gas.  It's formulated different.  What they really should do is make two grades (Regular & Premium) and have them universal across the country.  IIRC, there's something like 30-40 different blends used across the US.
