Speedo gear tooth count
« on: June 29, 2008, 12:12:37 AM »
Any one know the factory tooth count on the seedo gear for a 2000 SE TJ? The gearing was 4.11 and I think it came with 215R75/15 tires (approx. 29"). I pulled out a 39 tooth gear orginally but that doesn't match what all the gear charts say.

Basically, I trying to figure what gear to run with 35" tires and 4.56 gears.

Stock is usually 41T.  You want a 37T like what I'm using.

41T makes since for stock on the gear charts, wonder why I would of had a 39. Have you ever put a GPS to yours?

You may of had a 39T if you had the optional tires, I think.  Those are slightly larger then the stock 205's.

I run my GPS all the time.  It's accurate with in 1mph.

My 29" (235/75R15) tires used a 40 tooth speedo gear. This is the chart I used when I upgraded to 33's.  Afterward I used the USGS Natianal Map View to measure a section of road and calculated the time to travel it at 60 MPH.  After I ran it once, it was PERFECT!!!  No GPS for me. :(
