Topic: waggy springs on YJ

So ive been doing a little bit of looking/wishing and found that the front springs from a wagoneer will fit all around the YJ, and if reversed will give an estimated 2.5" of stretch for both front and rear. That is the good part.

Now, I have a 4" Pro-Comp lift and really dont want to give any of the 4 inches I have up. So, my question is, is there any lift noticed from going stock leafs to waggy leafs? And if so, how much.  Then my next question is, depending if there is a lift from stock YJ to stock waggy leafs, is there a lift kit for the waggy around 4" that could be moved over to adapt to my YJ?

Time to go SOA.     Also, keep in mind you may run into clearance issues with the steering (up front) and the gas tank (in the rear).

I know SOA should appeal to me, but it just doesnt :P
And for the steering I will eventually be going hi-steer with a rear tie-rod anyways, so what better time then right now. Same goes for the gas tank, I will be going fuel cell eventually, so why not right now.

This is just the intermediate steps until I go much larger, so I dont really want to spend a whole lot of money on SOA, incase I decide to tri-link the rear with coils anyways.

Since you have 4" lift, you should see very little change in the actual suspension height.  So the added cost would be minimal, (if you're doing the work.)  $15 for a set of perches isn't much of an investment even if you change your mind.

I will for sure keep the SOA in mind, but because I am a novice garage welder, I dont want to get myself that deep in without polishing my welds on something a little less important.

I also run a site, and would like to try the waggy lift and stretch, so I can do a writeup, and possibly make a piece together lift and stretch a lot more viable for other YJ owners.

I was looking at the RS44044's (4 of them, as only the front springs from a waggy are the same) and on Rancho's spec sheet, it says those specific springs are for a 2.5" Waggy lift, so what I am really wondering is what specs from stock waggy springs do I need to know (eye to mounting perch, spring rate, stuff like that) to find out how much lift a stock spring lift will give me.

If all else fails, once I am back to the city, I will get 2 springs, and do the front or rear swap, and measure how much actual lift the stock springs give, and once I know that value, I should be able to tack another 2.5-3" on top of that (just assuming since the lighter weight of my YJ, I should see a little more lift).

Ive talked to a fella on jeepforum and it sounds like the stock springs do infact lift 2", so with a 2.5" lift set of waggy springs, I should stay at my 4" lift.

Im going to grab my own j-yard springs off a stock waggy just to see what my results are for lift loss, and if im satisfied, im going to go ahead and order 2.5" lift springs, or try to find some 4" lift springs to give me about 6" of lift.
