Someone please just shoot me....
« on: August 23, 2008, 05:26:15 PM »
Okay.
 :brick:
So my blown head gasket was just a freeze plug.  I noticed this after tearing half the motor apart.
Moving on, I also found a broken manifold bolt.  Tried to turn it out, and broke the extractor.
I bought a new head from Quadratech.  After it's torqued down, I notice that theres an extra hole on the top (manifold side), next to the valve cover.
I then forget about said hole.  Until I refill the new radiator.  Said hole gushes coolant.  What's it for?  Can I  just thread a bolt into it and forget it?
Also, stupid me didn't take pictures of anything before I did the tear down.  On my throttle body, theres four vacumm line dealies.  I can't remember what lines go where, and I can't even find all the damn lines to put them on randomly.
If anyone would come up to Green Bay and shoot me, you could take my Jeep.  You'd have to get it back together first....

I assume the hole is at the back of the head.  That would be where the temp sensor goes.

Not sure about the vacuum lines since I don't know if it's a TBI or a EFI.

It's a '98.  That's TBI right?  I'm so tired and bummed, and feel so stupid that I can't even think anymore.

MPFI.  Which vacuum lines?  The ones going to the intake under the TB?  IIRC, one set goes from the CCV on the valve cover to the intake.  Another goes from the Evap canister to the intake.  One goes from the MAP to the intake...

Does it matter which goes where?  Oh yeah, the ones under the throttle body.  But theres 3 big nipples, and one small one.  I think I got the picture now though.
Thanks!

Update!
After calming down, stepping back and looking at everything with fresh eyes, I'm happy to report that my Jeep is back on the road!
One minor hiccup today, but nothing that we couldn't get past.  Fuel injector O rings.  Cheap and easy to replace.
Said it many times, but it's always worth repeating;  This is the single greatest resource for our Jeeps out there.  Period.
Thanks for being here, one and all!
