Topic: Ring Terminals

I'm getting ready to install a winch and need to buy some battery cable ring terminals that can be crimped on and soldered.  I have found some for smaller gauge wire but have not been able to find any for cables (2 and 4 gauge).  Any idea where to find them?

Check either Fastenal, Napa, Carquest any of those should be able to get those for you.

Do yourself a favor and ditch the 2 and 4 gauge cables  replace with 2/0 welding cable (00 AWG).  You'll be amazed at the difference it makes.

Thats what I used when I hooked up my 2000W power invertor in my truck and it made a huge difference, it doesnt hurt when your a mechanic for a company that builds steel building and you have tons of it layin around either

:)   I got my last batch for free from a guy who hooks up MRI machines.  I guess they take off the 2/0 leads that come with the machine when they hardwire it in, so I got about 25 feet for free to hook up the 8274 in my old jeep.

I replaced all of my cables for 2/0 as well.  The welding cable is nice and flexible compared to the stuff usually used.  Make it a lot easier for me to mount the solenoid box under the hood.  I think I paid $1 a foot.

For terminals, I had to go to an auto parts place.  I wanted the crimp/solder and most other places had large bolt-on ones.

Welding supply is a good option.  Our local farm supply store has them in the welding section.
