What should I do?

I found a pretty sweet deal on some 33" super swampers.  The problem is however I still have the dana 35 and 4:10 gears.  I don't really have the money right now to regear.  Should I stick with 31s right now and get my d44 ready to put under the Jeep or buy the 33s and run them with the D35 and be gentle while saving up some doe to regear and put the 44 under the Jeep.

You're going to shoehorn 33's under there with only 1" lift?

When I bought my Jeep, it came with 31's (still under the Jeep, by the way) with no lift and really sagged springs (bent upwards).  The 31's would rub on any speed bump...  I dont think 1" BL will clear 33's unless you dont go offroad.  And I hear highway eats up the Super Swampers, so I dont know...  I guess I would just stick to 31's.  But keep in mind this comes from the guy who is still running street tires because they still got some meat left!

I should probbely add that I have a 2" BDS kit that I will be putting on here soon so with that and my shackles and body lift I should have around 3.5" to 4" of lift.  Plus I'll be adding some TJ flares.  Ya I hear the swampers don't like the highway too and thats mostly what I travel  :'(

Well, with 3.5: total lift, the 33" should fit (keep in mind that 33" Swampers are like 35" regular MT), especially if you do a TJ flare conversion, you should be fine.  But if highway is the main use, I would probably go in another direction...  BFG MT or so.  I hear they wear pretty good.  Toyo's I have heard are good on pavement as well...

The down side of the swampers will be wear, noise, and wet pavement handling for the highway.  Consider that, and if it is worth it to you, by all means, go for it.

But I got no experince with them, as my tires are still what came with the Jeep and will stay there until they wear out; then it's BFG MT KM2 for me (33").

Well if the swampers come with rims run both sets keep the 31's for street use and run the 33's for offroad, that is where they really shine anyway

Actually 33" SS's are more like 34" for most other brands.  Also, keep in mind that Interco's are some if the ugliest built tires around.  They have a lot of imperfections which is one of the reasons why they are hard to balance.  I think if you're mostly driving on highways then that sort of makes the choice easy. Pass on them.  Otherwise, but then as a second set of tires and swap between the two.  As long as your open-diff you shouldn't have to worry about the D35 too much.  You'll get stuck before you break it.

I think you will basically lose 5th...  With 31's, I had to drop to 4th gear on the highway if I had any kind of head wind or if I was driving up any kind of hill (keep in mind I live in Miami, which is FLAT, so by hill, I mean highway overpass!).  Also, getting started from a stand still will probably suck.

As Jeffy said, if you can have them as your "off road only tires", grab them, otehrwise, pass.

When I was running 33's (BFG MT) with 4.10's I pretty much never ran 5th gear. I ran this way for 2 years before I went to 4.88's. I would imagine that the SS tire weighs more than a BFG so the power loss felt would be more.

If I were in your shoes I would use the money towards the D44. IMO it's better to upgrade your drivetrain before you upgrade tire size.

i would only run ss off road.. they are amazing off road but they get eaten up fast on road.

Well, I think I may pass on them for now, they are a little wider then I want anyway.  Money is a little tight, and like you guys said with my gearing and having to drive on the highway all the time it could be a pain.   Thanks dudes 8)

I run 32x11.50 BFG mt on mine with a 3.5" lift and 4.10 gears runs great down the highway
