I'd just go with the larger 14" fan.  It's not a 16" or 18" but really it should work fine.  As for a fan controller, you can either do what I'm doing and have it hardwired to turn on with the key, or spend as little as $30 for a standard adjustable thermostat.  There is no need to spend $100 for one.  Personally, I like to keep everything simple.

So do I need to just order the 26.00 one the Flex-a-lite 31147 ? I wont need any other stuff like relays or anything else.

How many posts do I need? I do days and days of reading before I post anything. So im not much of a post whore.
I figure It is better to research stuff be for asking a question that has been asked a million times.
Thanks Jeff

I would still run a relay, if it's not high amp then a 40A would be something like $3.

This one has run great for me for the past 2+ years.  Expensive, but nice...

I have a 40A relay with a 40A inline fuse wired as a back up to my FoMoCo fan on the low speed cable, and both the fuse and relay have lasted...  I ran them for some time when the DCC controller was not working properly (maybe had something to do with the fact that I unplugged it and forgot to plug it back in...  What can I say; I am THAT dumb!).
'94 YJ 2.5L with 4" RE lift, Superwinch EPi9.0, FoMoCo e-Fan, SD30 and SD35 w/ARB-5.13, 165A alt., 33" BFG KM2 on 15" AR wheels, Sony sound system, Pavement Ends Hardtop, Hydroboost

Just a question. The fan I got is from a taruas 3.0 will it matter that its a single speed fan?
I also found some relays one is real big it says HI RAM on it. It looks just like the bosch relays and I also got a bunch of smaller ones they all have the same part numbers.  Is there a way to tell how many amps they are?
There are just part numbers nothing else.
Thanks in advanced for helping me on this.

Most likely it will be a hi-speed but I'm sure it will pull lower then the hi-speed on the Taurus/Lincoln fan.  Relays should be rated.  I would not use one that is not rated.  Who knows it's quality especially then Bosch relays are cheap and plentiful.

Got the fan installed.  But one big problem when the fan starts I damn near kills my motor!!! My alt needle was a little above 14 when I first installed the fan but now it is hanging around 13. So it looks like Im going to need to upgrade my alt.
Also when the fan stops it makes my stereo amp pop. Any Ideas?
thanks

Well, there is forsure a high amp draw someplace.  I would guess that the fan is taking power from the fusebox inside?  You didn't say if you are using relays.  If not then that's a problem for a few reasons.  The stereo fuse is the same one for the horn, dash lights and headlights.

I did use a 60 amp relay and I connected the thermostat and relays directly to the battery I didnt wire anything through the fuse box. Should I get a bigger relay?

Strange that it should be blowing fuses when it's on it's own circuit.  The relay is probably fine.
