« on: January 15, 2009, 05:24:38 PM »
so to solve the problem with lack of space in my jeep i have decided on a roof rack since i want to keep my rear seat.
can you just mount one right on the hard top? how much weight do you think that will hold?
i could possibly design one and build one myself. i cant affird the expensive tube ones that surround the vehicle.
any ideas?
its for a yj

I have an old Con-Ferr rack that bolts to teh top og my hardtop.  IIRC, the hardtop can hold +200lbs.  There is enough room for gear buy I have never put stuff up there so far.  When your packing, you want all of your heavy stuff lower.  You also want low profile stuff up there as anything big will be like raising a sail.
