Topic: Fuel tank modification

I did the 15 gallon to 19 gallon trick that has been mentioned here and other sites. I cut the small vent tube inside the tank. I had about 1 gallon of gas left in the tank after this work was done. I promptly went to get fuel, at the gas station. I am very curious why my tank only took 15.50 gallons of gas. No way do I have 19 gallons of gas. I was disappointed. Was I supposed to cut the larger filler tube as well?

Thanks for the link. That is exactly what I did. There is about an inch of the vent hose sticking into my tank. Oh, well, I gave it a shot.

In my case, I just removed the entire hose.  Ended up with just over 20 gals (I once was going to Naples through Alligator Alley, where there is NOTHING but swamps on either side, and was running out of fuel, and when I fueled, I took almost 21 gallons).

Well, I suspect that it is 19/20 but you'll have to try milking it at the pump.  Fumes might be clicking it off early still.  I know mine can be a PITA to fill up all the way.  I've got to listen to it and when I hear it gurgling up the pipe, I stop.

worked for me ran mine just about out after I removed the vent hose can get just about 20 gallons in it stays on full for about 130 miles. got to fill up real slow or the pump will keep clicking off
