Jeep Floods Out

I have taken my jeep to 3 different people to be worked on...they all take my money and say it is fixed...Then when i get it home and turn it off it won't start back....i have a 89 jeep wrangler with a 93 2.5 engine in it...its fuel injected....it takes me 10 to 20 mins to get it started....when i try to start it...it floods out...it sound like it wants to turn over...but just won't...and just makes a weird sound...then when i get it started it bogs down in the high gears....then when you turn it off it backfires....Need help please i have had this jeep since i was 16 am 25 now...and i really don't want to sell it but no one can figure out my problem....

Sounds like it's running on 3 cylinders.  Typically, the engine will run but sound a bit odd.  Then if you try to drive, it's really underpowered.

Plugs/wires/cap/rotor are first.  Then I'd check the pickup in the bottom of you cap/ distributer.  I had that go bad on mine and it did all those things.  Also possibly fuel pressure. Do you have a pressure checker?  Could also be the crank position sensor.

ok i pulled my plugs out today the 1st,2nd,4th plugs  where bad the 3rd plug look like it had not been firing so then i made sure it had spark no spark the third cylinder is not firing what would cause that....

have you checked the vacuum lines?... i had a vacuum line unconnected and the jeep would run on 2-3 cylinders, (knew something was not right when we could have it running and pull off plug wires with out a change in idle :yikes:, and turned out to be major vacuum leak.)) .

Have you checked the spark plug cables?  What about the distributor cap?

A vacuum leak should could retard the timing but would not cause the engine to run on less them 4 cylinders.

Make sure that the distributor is properly installed- it could be one tooth off and still run, but not well.  Also, it would help  to know if the 2.5 is using the TBI, or does it have the port injection?

check the fuel injector in piston 3
run a 12volt and a ground to the injector plug and hear for a click

It's a '93, being a tooth off won't matter.

i found the leak but i need a vacuum diagram to go by....where do i find one...when i rolled my jeep some of the lines came off....

x2 that's what i found out.. having 2 line unconnected causes a lean misfire :brick:

Consistently on only one cylinder?  He confirmed it's not firing on #3.

i fixed that problem know i just need to hook the vacuum lines back up....that go to my throttle body....the spark plug wire goin to that cylinder was damaged on th inside....
