Topic: Currie TJ/LJ Johnny Joint 4" Suspension Kit

I'm in the market for new suspension....has anyone had experience with this lift kit?  I know Currie makes great axles and rear ends and that is were I am eventually heading towards...full drive-line build-up.  I just need some opinions on articulation, ride, noise, etc.  I have read a few articles that say it provides incredible articulation due to the joints being able to flex 35 degrees.  Seems like a great engineering idea but I wonder how it has held up in daily driving situations.

I would imagine a very harsh ride would accompany those johnny joint control arms. No bushings = no road vibration dampeners, other than body mounts.

Do you know what a johnny joint is?

It's basically a heim that's made with replaceable poly bushings. I'm linking the rear of my YJ with them right now. (almost done, BTW)

I have had Currie control arms for about 2.5 years flex great and hold up really well, also very easy to rebuilt
Cannot tell you about their springs, but suppposedly they give a very good ride, they are progressivley wound
Should make a very nice lift. Overall Currie makes only quality stuff

OH! Sorry, my definition of johnny joint is now changed, I had it swapped with heim. Still learning...

If you scroll to the bottom of the page you will see that these joints are impervious to weather, completly rebuildable and greaseable.  I also have to agree that Currie does make quality products.

I just purchased a Clayton long arm kit for my TJ.  They use the Johnny Joints on one end and rubber bushings on the other.  I've heard lots of good things about the JJs.  I'm still installing, so I can't give you first hand scoop.  The Currie short arm kit (your link) seems like a good kit for a decent price.  The control arms are adjustable.  If you want maximum flex, consider a long arm kit with a triangulated rear (Clayton, Rubicon Express, Full Traction).
