The Transmission originally required GL-3 but they don't make it any more.  Now, it's GL-5 MT-1.

Transfer case takes ATF.

CAreful what you put in the tranny, many GL-5 rated gear oils are corrosive to the soft brass syncros.  I recommend Redline MT90 as it's a full synthetic and easy on the syncros.

I'm not sure if I'd say many.  I'd say more often then not you'll find GL-5/MT-1  The whole story is in that other thread.

It is the sulphur in the lube that eats the brass syncros. Don't put anything other than the recomended lube like hypoid or any other synth. lube you find at Walmart. There is nothing wrong with basic gear lube. Don't get caught up in the hype.

Thats very true, even though I have heard good things about the Redline fluid.  Depending on prices, thats prob what Im going to put in my tranny.
