Half Doors
« on: May 25, 2009, 09:53:23 AM »
Hello,
I have been looking at half doors for the summer. What are your opinions on soft half doors for summer? Should I track down a pair of used factory half doors? What do you have and reccomend? Pictures would be helpful.

Thanks.

I've just got factory half doors on mine. At least I'd assume they're factory, dunno what else they could be...

Mine ONLY has factory half doors...  But then again, you dont really need full doors in Miami!  (the funny thing is that I just noticed that all the pics I have are with the hardtop on!  LOL!)

I like Half doors.  They're fairly light and give you decent wind protection.  They look nice too.  I see no problem with running sans doors though either.

I personally dont see the point....wind protection? I think bikini top is all you will need. Alltho I guess I could see the armrest thing....not. I like the fact that most people freak or dont even want to get in the jeep cause it has no doors...but to each there own ...thats why we do what we do

I also like the added "water" protection from when you run over a puddle (although to be honest, it is not much!!!).

Drive with half doors on and then drive without the half doors.

My speakers are in my doors so that's one reason why mine stay on. But I always tell myself I'll put some disconnects on the speaker wire sometime and try it without doors as I never have. Probably sounds stupid but IMO running topless with the half doors takes away from the whole "Hey that Jeep has no doors, let's go $%&^ with it" look. Again, maybe that's just me...

O love wheeling with the doors off, but Highway driving with the doors on is a much better proposition even though I drive there with the doors off also. The soft doors are kinda nice easy to throw in the back, would be nice to make easlly portable 2 piece doors. That can easily be stored in the back that would give some wind protection and allow wheeling with the doors off

You do sometimes get those who think, since it's open they can have a sit while you're away...  ???

Don't like that exposed feeling or the whirlwind that grabs anything not tied down and floats it around till it flies out?

Try going without doors for a while and see how you like it.  Mine came with half doors, took them off one day and never put them back on.

I learned the hard was not to change CD's at 70 MPH with the top off...  :stick:

And yeah, I figure some folks might assume they can just sit in your rig when the doors are off... Not something I'd appreciate...

hey I dont think anyone is going to have a "correct" answer on this. Its all based on personnel preference. Have you driven with zero doors ever. I would first try that. I see half doors on CL all the time and fairly reasonable. I am sure if you find someone selling a pair they wouldnt mind if you slapped them on and took a test ride.

With my Yj its almost a climb for most people to get in. Havnt had any uninvited so lazy they need to sit wanna climb in yet.

If it wasnt for the swirling winds how would my jeep ever stay halfway clean.LOL.

My rule number 1 of jeep is dont leave nothing in jeep if I wont mind replacing it(theft is sooo easy).

rule number 2 is if it flies out cause I didnt secure properly I must not have wanted to keep it.

My jeep is to be treated as a jeep things that You take for granted in cars does not apply. Such as security and swirling winds, rain protection. I actually carry a mini squeege for the inside of the window for when it rains. Works great. If I was worried about such luxuries I would have bought an s10
