IIRC, the 2.4L uses a 2.5L TB.  You'll have to double check that though.

Yes, it would only be for cars of the same MY as when the rule is implemented.

I think you'll see a bigger increase in mileage by changing your driving habits.  Keeping the Jeep under 60MPH should see a rise.  When I had smaller tires and the speed limits were 55mph, I could get well into the 20's.  My high was 25-27mpg but that was a few tires ago and probably a few hundred lbs less.  Only problem now is it's dangerous to go under 55mph on the highways.  Most of the time I'm doing just under 70mph.

Yeah from what i understand is, the new cars are suppost to average 35mpg by 2016. But they also want to bring back the car crusher law, and are after any year vehicle not getting 18 mpg's.

Some time in the next 2 or 3 yrs they want to start emissions testing acrost the board in all states, that same as California. Its all over the net how they want to kill the Hemi, and anything not getting atleast 18mpg other wise they want to charge a fuel tax.  :puzzled:

Illinois used to be pretty bad exp in chicago area. But law suites against unqualified peep messing peoples rides up giving it the sniffer and the newer cars most often just being able to be plugged in put an end to that. Now i Think they just do cars in there first 10 years. I know I am done at least till they change laws. But mayor daley wants to lay 1500 off at the same time he is gauranteeing billions to the olympic community at the same time. So we got it all back arsewords up here

I've got one of those super cool 2.4's, and from what I've researched the 2.5/4.0 tbl will not fit. Had a friend who has a 4.0 and I looked at it closely and the bolt holes do not match up, and they are farther apart with four of them. I have a throtle body spacer and it seemed to help out when I had smaller tires. I have tried to drop the exhaust before the muffler, and it was too obnoxious to continue the research. As I have also found no one makes a header for it, and the "super" coil pack thing does not work too well. I've calculated all the weight ratios and stuff, well basically stripped you can gain a mile per gallon or two, but the wind drag slows you down. I want to get some soft doors and test it again but that costs more money. SO all in all I gave up and realized I drive a 4k lb box which has less power than some golf carts. I have got 30 mpg's once, a friend help me move my sister and drafted a budget truck for two-three hours.
