So how much is TOO much liner?
« on: June 24, 2009, 09:13:32 AM »
Well, I went to the X-Liner place to get my bumper lined, and I came upon this jeep in the parking lot.  Now Ithought to myself, "sure, this is only a demo" and continued walking, so I got talking to the owner and told him "Man, you went a bit overboard on the demo, didn't you" and he says, "nah, we have done about 25 Jeeps like that already".

I personally did not like it and think it is too much, but what do you guys think?

The Jeep is COMPLETELY covered in Line-X.  The inside is color matched to the interior, the roll bar is in black, all the paint is done in black (including fender flares) and the mirrors and bumpers are silver.

Now, for me, I would love to have my frame, the underbody, the roll cage, the tub and all bumpers and armor lined, but the paintjob and mirrors is taking it all a bit too far for my taste...

Not practical for me but I like it.  Spray on liner for the interior is on my list of upgrades!

Its kinda cool I think, One of the line x shops had an old bronco that a couple years ago that they did the whole thing in red and black for one of the offroad events around here that was pretty cool.  It won't rust or scratch this way

I've seen a couple around here like that. Looks great until you get it good and muddy a couple times. Very difficult to clean.

PITA to clean and highly-flamable as most bedliners are.  Mirrors look like crap. I'd imagine it's now difficult to even lower the windshield too.

would be nice to have frame and under body and interior lined but the body would suck to clean... and looks  :bore:

Probabally added 200lbs to the jeep, and it acts as an insulator - sure wouldn't want it on my hood.

Waste of money.  Rocks will probably scrape it off anyway.

It would be great to know the weight before and after application on something like that. It is a bit different and there has to be some taste for something like that. Atleast it also shows different color applications. Can do the same to almost anything with a surface.

Another problem I can see is if you live in the rust belt.  The body can rust from the backside and you'd never know.

There's a truck that rolls around town here that's like that... The dude has EVERY freaking chrome accessory you can get for an F250, it's a newer 4 door with like 38's on at least 10" lift. Up close it looks horrible, it's all faded and has pressure washer lines all over. IMO it looks horrible.

It was actually at my buddy's shop getting gears last year, and he told him that when he took it in to Line-X they didn't even want to do the job. They told him he had to remove everything himself (lights, trim, etc) and they couldn't warranty that. He still did it... And I don't know if he regrets it or not...

At first i liked it at least inside tub. But horror stories of herced tubs rusting thru in a couple years scared me off. Wouldnt buy a rig already with it. dont know whats under it.
