Pizza Cutters
« on: December 27, 2005, 04:33:16 PM »
I've been contemplating switching over to some pizza cutters.  I sorta like the look of the wheels and tires under the stock flares 100%.  I've also got a set of 15x6 stock wheels that I'll probably never be able to get rid of.  So I'm toying around with the idea of putting some skinny tires on them.  The smallest I could go to are 33's but 34's would be better.  I don't want Bias or Bias belted tires.  Optimally, I'd like to run 34's but the only ones I've seen are 34.9.5R15 TSL which I'm using as a spare.  So how many companies out there make 33s and 34s that are 9.5-10.5".

Some pictures would be great too.  I know I can clear them but I may get some rubbing when turning.  Stock 9 slots are 15x6's.

I really don't think there is much for a call for 15" rim tires in that range height. Most tire manu's make a lot of ranges at those heights in 16" rims due to the configuration of weight carrying capacity. Only options I'm aware of for 15" rims:
Swamper TSL radial 33x10.5x15
Swamper LTB 34x10.5
Bogger 33x10.5, 35x10.5, 38x11 (still tall and skinny)
BFG MT 33x10.5, AT 33x9.5 (old and don't know if they are still sold), 33x10.5 (*possibly other BFG copycats in same sizes)
Dunlop Radial AT 33x10.5

You might want to check known-tire-sellers-near-you websites.

To tell you the truth, I'd wished I had gone with a 16" rim rather than another 15" rim. I'm running 34" LTBs since my TJ is not a DD. The 16" option would definately provide better opportunities for a 33-35" tall, 10-11" width tire, even radials.

Good Luck.

also look into the Kelly Safary 33x9.50.  They are supposed to perform as well as MTR's with the exception on sidewall strenght. I am leaning towards BFG mt's because I need something that will throw mud and also do well on the street.  I have heard the the 10.50's are easier for the 2.5 to push and not as hard on the D35

For some reason skinny tires never caught on.  I know Interco makes a 34.9.5R15, 33x9.5R15 and a 33x.10.5R15.  But like I said I don't want to run a bias ply tire.  It gets cold and very wet here and they don't handle as well onroad as I'd like.  Boggers don't do as well as TSL's out west either.

I think the only one I can see is 33x10.5R15 in a KM or KO.  Many SUV's are using 16" wheel standard but I don't really want to run them unless I happen along a cheap set of Moab wheels.  (I don't like the lack of a safety bead.)  I've thought about getting some Moabs actually.  Maybe trade and some cash for my 35's.  Although the stock steel wheel look is sorta what I'd like to do.  That one of the reasons I've kept my old wheels.

If it wasn't so wet and I wasn't so lazy, I'd put my 34x9.5R15 w/AR767 15x8" on and see how it looks.

I'm sure Brett Spence will have something to say.
