the infamous manifold leak
« on: December 30, 2005, 03:00:24 PM »
the rear manifold bolt on my 2.5 has broken off.  ive heard that this problem is not exclusive to me.  when i first start my rig it ticks, quite loudly if i put the engine under load ( such as starting off uphill).  once the engine has warmed up the ticking stopped, i thought that it might be a lifter sticking, but someone told me it has to do with the manifold....any comments or suggestions

Don't know but my dad's jeep has the same bolt broken off. I will have to help him tackle it sooner or later.

It's common and the replacement part # is in the Faq.  I haven't had the problem but hte 2.5L does tick a bit when idling.  You shouldn't hear it under load which I'd suspect might be the manifold.
